Guest: "My grandmother taught me respect, boy. Now, sometimes respect was loosely translated to mean fear! (laughs) But, on the other hand, my grandma had I side that was very tender, very loving.[ Read Full Transcript ]
Dennis Rainey: Good for that grandmother. And good for that young man. At least he had someone to care for him.
In our society today, there are thousands of grandparents who, just when they thought they could sit back and relax, are raising a generation of children all over again. Contributing factors include the skyrocketing numbers of single parents and working moms.
If you're a parent whose child is being raised by a Grandma or a Grandpa, take a long, hard look at whether or not you're abdicating your God-given responsibility to raise your child.
One final thought. I want to offer my encouragement to all the grandparents who are pouring out their lives to raise yet another generation. What you are doing is not only grand and noble, it's also just plain hard work. On behalf of the next generation, thank you!
